Congratulations to Gary Llewellyn

We congratulate Gary Llewellyn who has been named the 2012 Maryland National Distinguished Principal. He was surprised on April 16 with an assembly of students and staff of Mount Savage High School with the announcement.

Friend Sunday

The Sunday after Easter will be Friend Sunday at Christ Lutheran. You are invited to bring a friend to Church as we continue to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection and that God gives us the gift of friends!

Youth Attending National Gathering

Thirteen youth from Christ Lutheran will attend the ELCA National Gathering in New Orleans July 17-22, 2012. LOTS of fundraising will continue into the summer and they thank everyone for their continued support and participation. See attached Newsletter for more details.

Tormod Svensson New Pastor At St. John’s

Tormod Svensson, a member of Christ Lutheran who will graduate from Gettysburg Theological Seminary in May, has been called to pastor St. John’s Luthern Church, Cumberland. Tormod will preach at both services at Christ Lutheran the morning of March 25 before he begins his call at St. John’s. Bishop Wolfgang Hertz-Lane will be at Christ Lutheran April 22 for Tormod’s ordination at 4 p.m. in the afternoon and will also preach at both morning services. We congratulate Tormod on his Ordination and pray God’s blessing upon his ministry.

New Intern

On March 1 we received word that Jennifer Bramble, a student of Gettysburg Seminary, will be doing a year internship at Christ Lutheran beginning the end of July, 2012. Vicar Jenny is from the Baltimore area and we look forward to welcoming her into our church family.

First Communion Instruction

Pastor Chuck will meet with children and parents who wish to receive instruction in the Meaning of Holy Communion and receive First Communion on Maundy Thursday. This course will meet on Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. beginning March 7 and conclude the Wednesday before Holy Week. For more information, please see Pastor Chuck.

SouperBowl Kettle Offering

Thanks to everyone in the congregation who participated in the Youth Group’s collection for the Union Rescue Mission. The Mission received $267.46 thanks to YOU!

Pastor Anteneh’s Ordination

On Sunday, January 15, at 3 p.m., Pastor Anteneh will be installed as Associate Pastor at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Arlington, Virginia. Our congregation is invited.

New Nativity Lights

New lights for the outdoor nativity scene will be dedicated at our Wednesday evening Advent Service on December 7 in loving memory of Doug Hafer.
